EISA has recently re-opened its Mali office (see EISA Mali 2013-2015).

Programme objectives

The project has the the objective of contributing to the participation of Malian civil society in the promotion of reconciliation, social cohesion and credible elections over a perion of 18 months. More specifically, working countrywide, the project will:

  • facilitate the establishment of alternative mechanisms for the prevention and resolution of electoral and community conflicts;
  • strengthen the capacity of CSOs for professional, independent and credible citizen election observation, and support this platform in conducting robust and constructive advocacy for electoral reforms; and
  • support the implementation of awareness raising and voter, peace and social cohesion education campaigns.

The EISA Mali office will work with about 15 civil society organisations, supporting them in areas such as democratic governance, elections, participation of young people, women and other marginalized groups as well as the role of traditional and religious authorities.
